Journal

This is my husband Randy and I at Christmas.
We had just received some good news and were celebrating.

The reason for my post yesterday was about my husband. In September 2019 he wad diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer that had metastasized to lymph and muscle, terminal and inoperable. They gave us the recommended starting chemo with fairly good response so we signed him up. He had been doing chemo ever other week since. He had the chemo tube put in in the clinic and I was taught how to remove it at home. After his last chemo appt. the tests showed that the chemo was sucessful and all the places where cancer had spread had been resolved and he was nearly cancer free.Thats what we were celebrating in the photo.
Starting the end of December he started having some specific pain issues. The Doctors thought it might just be chemo side effects. As it progressed into neurological things they did an MRI and just  2 weeks ago they told us that the cancer was back snd and unfortunately had spread to spine and brain. They offered radiation treatments as a last effort to relieve his pain. Then on Saturday 2/15 they dismissed him from the hospital to at home hospice with me as his caregiver.
Although Randys spirit is strong this type of cancer is aggressive and heartless not caring who it destroys in its path.
Yesterday i was trying to wrap my head and heart around all this while watching him slip quickly away.
