Journal

Hi everyone!

I know it has been a while since I have posted so I wanted to give an update!

School:

School has been so good! I finally got to start the year back in the building! Mrs.Zimmerman (my school administrator) has been such a big help with my transitioning back into school. I started with just one class in person for 1st period. As I was able to handle that for the first couple of weeks we added a 2nd period class in person as well. I got to start that this week. I am definitely feeling tired from the adjustment and the heat hasn't helped but I am so happy with the progress I have made! On top of my two in-person classes, I have three online classes that I do when I can after I get home from school.

Dance:

I am also happy to say I am officially back on the dance team! I have been attending practices for a couple of weeks now. It has been so good to see all of my friends again and spend time with them doing a sport I love! Both the girls and my coaches have been so understanding and encouraging with having me back! I was even able to participate in my Senior Night at the football game this past Friday! Even though I am technically not quite a senior yet with credits for school it was nice to be a part of the night as well as dance with my team again. I will attach photos from the night too!

Lilo:

Lilo is definitely still a puppy!😂 She is just a bundle of energy. She was able to complete her first class of Basic Training though and next we plan to complete a Good Canine Citizen course. This will help with her manners, especially with other people and other dogs. This will also give her a little more time to mature a little before we try to put her through Service Training. Lilo is getting better at meeting other dogs and learning their social cues. However she still very much enjoys chasing birds and squirrels up trees as well as giving up close and personal kisses!

Neurology:

Yesterday I had an appointment with Dr. Nancy Kuntz at Lurie in downtown Chicago. It went wonderfully! She was actually trained at Mayo which explains why she is so good! She agreed a lot with the things Mayo has me doing for recovery and was happy to see that I have been making progress. She wants to help further my progress as much as possible by helping me better understand my migraines and how we can help them.  Dr.Kuntz suggested a test to make sure that I am taking in enough salt for my needs, especially with all the water I am now drinking. This test will let me know if I am optimally using the plasma levels in my blood to create good circulation. This helps with all the dizziness and fainting feelings.  After that, if it looks good they have their own Tilt Table Test that also monitors the flow of blood going to the brain. Dr.Kuntz mentioned that sometimes when people take the test and all of their vitals are normal but they feel really sick, it could be because of an inconsistency of blood specifically to the brain. This can cause basically all the things that I have been feeling nausea, headaches, dizziness, and brain fog. We will see after the salt test what we are going to do but I am very happy about her ideas and the way the appointment went yesterday! It is good to have another member on our home care team!

That is pretty much all the big stuff that has been going on these past weeks and keeping me very busy! I thank all of you for the support and for keeping up with my journal entries! This has been such a great outlet for me!
