Rachel’s Story

Site created on October 26, 2021

Early Sunday morning on October 24th, Rachel Ohlin was in a tragic car accident and sustained critical injuries to her head and neck.  Rachel's cervical vertebrae was crushed but some amazing surgeon's at Riverside hospital were able to re-build and repair the vertebrae.  Rachel continues to remain in critical care and is slowly making progress each day.  She is surrounded with so much love and prayers from her family and community.  God's love is truly amazing.   We have faith that God will heal Rachel and the entire family.

It is hard to believe that it only has been a little more than three weeks since Rachel has been home with us. She is doing great! I would have to say that leaving Childrens to come home was very exciting but it also made us a bit anxious. There are many things that we have had to learn to take care of Rachel, But we are doing it!

“Graduation day” from Childrens was very emotional for all of us, but  it was filled with a tremendous amount of affirmation and hope for Rachel. She loved all of the workers and 9B and misses them very much♥️

Rachel was very excited to return home to her siblings, it was quite the reunion and there were a lot of laughs. We spent her first few days just adjusting. As the weekend came around, Rachel was anxious to see her besties, she loves being with them!  They caught Rachel up quickly, telling her of the many things she missed while she was recovering.

Rachel was blessed with a day at the spa! Some how she managed to keep her acrylic nails on for 15 weeks. So you could understand her anticipation of getting her nails redone, a pedicure and her brow waxed. It was all she hoped for and more. Everyone was so kind, they made her feel very special!

She had been hoping to see one of Blaise’s game. .She loved seeing him on the court and the excitement of a live game. It was a fun but a very exhausting evening!

This past weekend Rachel had a fun Sunday.  She has not been much of an OSU fan, but i’m sure she will begin to watch next season! What a great group of young men.

We began PT and OT last week, at the Ohio State University Martin Moore house. We are working with some pretty great therapists. Rachel is looking forward to continuing strength and healing.

We hope that you will continue to keep Rachel in your prayers as she continues along this journey. Pray for her mental and emotional strength that she will continue to have hope for her future. Pray that her body will be able to stay healthy so that she will be able to go to all of her therapies, and that they will be productive.  Pray that she will continue to trust in God’s plan for her!
