Journal entry by Rachel Nibbe

I keep seeing posts lately about how it’s May and parents/teachers/any adults who work with children are tired. And honestly, I’m glad bc I’m also tired. I have been nauseous most mornings over the last week, which according to my googling, could be a side effect of the tamoxifen and it’s wearing me out.

At group the other night we talked about how if you only have 40% energy to give the day, and you give that full 40%, that IS your 100% for the day. I’m trying to remind myself that my body has been through two surgeries (plus lots of testing) in the past three months, and I’ve introduced new meds, so I’m not going to rebound quickly, maybe ever, to the life I had six months ago. Super grateful for my support group and how they keep me in check!

Just left my follow up with the plastic surgeon. He said the fluid they sent off last week was fine and treated by the antibiotic he prescribed, so he is sending in two more weeks of that med. he aspirated the left breast again this morning and is hoping that doing this in office will prevent me from needing another drain. I am taking all of that as good news! I’ll have a follow up next week to make sure everything is healing appropriately.
