Journal entry by Rachel Isaac —
Last week I had my 3-month PET scan, and the doctors were really happy with the progress — and as of now, I can forego surgery to remove the lymph node at the original tumor site in my armpit. YAY!! (It’s still lighting up a little on the scan, but it’s so much dimmer than the past scans.)
What’s next? I’ll schedule a procedure soon to get my port removed. In three months I’ll go back for my next follow-up visit with the hematology team; in six months I’ll go in for my next PET scan.
Hopefully we are all in the clear now!!!!
Praise God!
Now we can focus on continuing to re-build life… finding therapy to deal with the PTSD… fighting insurance battles over un-paid bills that should have been covered… learning to live with the after-effects of chemo … and all that good stuff.
Not trying to be a downer at all, but being honest about the reality of life as a “cancer survivor”.
We are so, so thankful that the immediate physical threat is gone. And thankful for all the prayers as well as practical help that have gotten us this far.
Please do continue to pray for us as we continue to navigate our new path 💕
God is good through it all.
