The scan results and bloodwork are in and I can hardly believe it. As far as we can tell, I’m NED — no evidence of disease.

I’ve been suppressing my excitement with each trickle of good news over this past week, but when my VA doc said “looks like we can cancel your chemo today”, I just about exploded with joy.

I’ve had the full spectrum of expectations on this journey. Back in August when things weren’t looking good, I got my girls locket necklaces with our photos, thinking that they could wear them when they missed me. Fast forward six months later, I got to share with them that God healed their mama.

Truly, I shouldn’t be here today. My tombstone should have read “December 2022”. It’s taken 30-something rounds of chemo, 2 surgeries, 2 more hospitalizations, 1 trip to California, 12 trips to NYC, and 17 months of people from Kenya to Kentucky, Denmark to DC (and everywhere in between) praying so faithfully for my healing.

Thank you. From the absolute depths of my heart, thank you.

What’s next? I get to repurpose hours and hours of my time that won’t be spent going to medical appointments. I get to make plans without half the month being blocked for anticipated sickness.  I get to let my body rest, heal, and strengthen.

As mentioned, recurrence is likely — but not imminent. This season of wellness may be short, or it may last. But no matter what the future holds, I will continue to praise God for what he has done.

Medically speaking, I will continue to get bloodwork done every month and have scans regularly — the next one is in 6 weeks. I’ll update here as scan results come in and keep you all aware of any notable turns this journey takes.  In the interim, I welcome you to join me in prayer for the following…

Praise:

  • For healing in Jesus’s name
  • For every single person who has bowed their head in faith and petitioned on my behalf
  • For the people who have loved, supported, and encouraged me throughout this fight — if you’re reading this, that means YOU!
  • For the heart transformation and perspective shift that will leave me forever altered in the best way possible
  • For all the goodness and light that has been able to emerge within this dark season

Requests:

  • Continued health, zero recurrence, and a full lifetime of being cancer-free
