Quincy is Cancer Free and Thriving

What a joy to share this news during this Season of celebrating the gift of the Christ Child.

Quincy has achieved several milestones since our last post:

1.  She had her 5th and final immunotherapy (hospital) discharge on Friday, November 8th.

2.  Her very last injection was given on November 14th.  (She had to have injections every morning for 2 weeks following each discharge during her immunotherapy.)

3.  On Tuesday, November 19th, her line was removed.  She received it in September 2018 to facilitate blood draws; administer chemo, immunotherapy, her stem cell harvest, and later stem cell transplants.  Because of the extreme care needed to keep it clean, dry, and free of infection, Quincy had to wear "press and seal" during baths and was not allowed to play in or around water, including the beach and her grandparents' swimming pool for the past 15 months.  The line removal was originally planned for January, so the early removal was an unexpected blessing.

4.  The final step of Quincy’s immunotherapy was taking an oral drug for 2 weeks this month.   This protocol is now also behind her -- her last dose was this past Sunday.  (See picture below.)

It has been such a thrill to watch Quincy bounce back to being a normal, feisty, energetic two-year old!  It is clear she feels very good.  One day she commented to her mom, “Mommy, I so happy!”  Indeed!

How to express our gratitude for God’s tender mercies toward our girl and her family?  And how to express our gratitude to all who have lifted Quincy before the Throne of Grace?  Again, no words, but we pray you know our heart.  It has been a rich and humbling experience to see how God has moved in the hearts of His followers across the globe to pray for Quincy.

Blessed Christmas to you and yours!

2.  Quincy taking her very last dose of oral medicine (camouflaged in her apple sauce).  End of medicine!  End of immunotherapy!  End of cancer treatment!
