Since Maddi's vell celebration things have been pretty busy. On September 30tg Maddi had her Fun Run at school, which is a fundraiser for the PTA. Typically individuals pay a set dollar amount per lap that the kid runs in about a 45 minute time frame with a goal of 30-35 laps. We weren't sure if Maddi was going to be able to participate so her sponsors paid a flat dollar amount for her. Well in true Maddi fashion, she surprised us all and ran an amazing 24 laps with a smile on her face for most of them. As an added bonus the school met the fundraising goal and the following week the principal was slimed.
On October 4th Maddi went for an Occupational Therapy (OT) evaluation before school, and she has a couple of areas to work on. She went again in Thursday and they came up with a 6 week plan for her before she's reevaluated. She also stayed after school for the aftercare program for the first time on the 7th and had a blast.
Over the weekend we had a cousin sleepover and stopped by Westminster's Oyster Stroll followed by some playground time at Local Homestead, her favorite farm.
On Monday the 10th we had a visit with an immunologist 🧬 at Hopkins, so that started the process of more blood work and had to put her IV IgG therapy on hold for a few weeks. The goal is to make sure there is nothing else underlying currently. She took the meeting like a champ (minus the blood work since she had to have a needle). She even went to school and did aftercare! Tuesday was another OT session, and then on Wednesday she had a Physical Therapy (PT) evaluation. They're going to help with her balance, coordination, and overall strength. The OT and PT specialists are working on a schedule going forward, with a maximum of 3 visits a week.
On Saturday the 15th there is going to be a benefit concert for Maddi hosted by our church. The event itself is free from 4-6 and the Sunday Night Big Band will be playing. The concert is at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (17 Bond St. Westminster, MD) and Queen Maddi will be there all masked up. There will be food, drinks, a silent auction, massages and all sorts of fun stuff.
Maddi is doing well and doing her best to keep up with her classmates. We can see that she has some catching up to do, but we all know how amazing she is and she's working hard to close that gap . She's looking forward to her first field trip on Monday to Summer's Farm with the other kindergartners and so far all of her new specialists agree that we should be giving Maddi as much of a normal childhood as possible whenever we can. ♥️
Side note: there's also an online PureRomance fundraiser right now. If you're interested, please feel free to message me on Facebook, text or email me: cndgator21@yahoo.com and let me know you're interested so I can try and get you the link. I know it's not for everyone and that's okay.
