RING THAT BELL !!!!!!
Although Preston's last day of chemo was Thanksgiving evening, today we all gathered at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and celebrated him "ringing the bell" after his meeting with the doctors.
It was a day filled with mixed emotions:
-First and Foremost....Celebrating the end of his chemo treatment
-Appreciation for the staff at HDVCH
-Proudness for his perseverance
-A bit of sadness from remembering his daily struggles for over three years
-Hoping for a bright future
-Hoping for a bright future
He can already feel an increase of energy, but the doctors predict it'll be about 6 months until he feels somewhat "normal" again.
Cherie and I want to thank you for your prayers and support. We especially want to thank our families, our friends, the Comstock Park community, and Preston's close friends Easton, Maddox, Spencer, and especially Gabe Vasquez, who has been an awesome best friend. Gabe's daily presence always had the unique ability to distract Preston from his sickness. Thank You, Gabe!
Hopefully our next post will be in August of 2023...five years post diagnosis. The doctors wait this long before stating that Leukemia patients are "cancer-free".
Happy Holidays to you and yours.
We certainly are counting our Blessings.
Sincerely,
Alex, Cherie, Preston, Jackson, and Brielle
