Day 21 Update -

Wednesday morning was his first dressing change since his skin graft surgery. He was sedated so everything went very smoothly. His doctors came in and said that everything looked great. There wasn't any signs of infection and the grafts looked as they should. Which was the great news we had been waiting to hear. They said that he was officially off bed rest and now he just had to check off the requirements to go home.

Thursday dressing was a bit rough because the dressings were sticking to the donor sites. They were able to put a certain kind of dressing on that area so it won't have to be bothered with for awhile. Which we were relieved to hear about. Other than that doctors said everything checked out great.

Today we did our first demo dressing change which is when the nurses teach me how to do his dressing changes at home. It was his first dressing change without any IV pain meds and he was a freaking trooper.  There was a place that caused him a lot of pain which we found out was his donor site from his RECELL surgery. After we finally got the dressing off of that we were able to put on the same dressing we used for the other donor site. And, we were excited to not have to mess with that for awhile.

After the demo dressing change we then discussed how things were going and what his plan was. They said that after tomorrows demo dressing change he would be discharged. He has checked off his requirements and they think he's ready to go and continue recovery at home!!!!! We are beyond excited about this news! He knows that he has a road ahead of him but just the fact he gets to go home and get somewhat back to normal is huge.

We were so excited to share this news with all of you!!! Our prayers are working 😍 We are so thankful for each and every prayer you guys have said for Preston and for our family!

God Bless and Thanks a MILLION 💙
