Bethany and Tony’s Story

Site created on October 24, 2021

Update from 12/28 - Dante Antonio Aguad was born on 12/26/2021 at 28 weeks and five days gestation. After my water broke at 17 weeks, he fought against the odds for the next 11 weeks to be born long enough to meet us. In the end, his lungs weren't developed enough and we had to say goodbye. We miss him terribly but are grateful for the time we spent with him.

Update from 11/18 - We are now at the AdventHealth Hospital for Women in Orlando, where we will stay until I deliver the baby. We still don't know how this journey will end, but the doctors here believe that right now they baby has a 50% chance of survival. We are still nervous but have excellent care and hope that his chances will go up the longer we are here. Original Message from 10/23 - Hey all, I am sad to say that we have difficult news to share about the pregnancy. We found out this week that we will not be welcoming our baby boy this March. Despite our hopes, we were told by our doctors that our baby is not going to make it.  I know that's hard to understand since not long ago everything was going well. I suffered a preterm premature rupture of the membranes (water breaking) at 17 weeks. While the baby is still alive right now, without any amniotic fluid, he is not going to be able to survive.  We have decided to wait for my body to go into labor which could happen now at any point. There is some risk of severe infection for me, but my doctor thinks it is minimal. Even if I was somehow able to carry him to age of viability (23 weeks), with no amniotic fluid, he cannot grow. Medically, there is nothing to be done to save him.  We are devastated and having a hard time processing this news. We have wanted and loved this baby, and it's hard to prepare to lose him. We are both just trying to keep up with life and work as best we can until we have to say goodbye. I know you will want to know how you can help. At this point, please just pray for us as we cope. I don't know what help we will need in the future. Even if we don't respond for a while, it means a lot to have your support. Bethany and Tony

Journal entry by Bethany Aguad

Hey, everyone. You may have seen the obituary online, and I wanted to clarify that the service details were intended to be private.

Please do not come unless you were directly invited by Tony and I or my Mom, Diane. I know so many of you want to be there to support us, but we simply can't handle grieving around more than a few close friends and family.

You are more than welcome to visit the page to support us from afar.
