Beckham’s Story

Site created on March 20, 2024

We thank everyone for your continued love, support, and most importantly your prayers❤️🙏

Beckham was a happy little 4 yo wild boy full of life enjoying being with his family in Florida while his daddy was working MLB spring training until all of a sudden he started not feeling well on Wednesday evening March 13th. On Thursday he started with a fever and Friday started having diarrhea along with the high fever. On Saturday morning March 16th Beckham woke up at 3am with excruciating abdominal pain and could not be consoled. He was taken to urgent care where he then started with bloody stools and was sent to the ER in Sarasota. There he was diagnosed with suspected intussusception and transferred to Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg via ambulance. On arrival to Johns Hopkins more tests were ran and imaging done to rule out intussusception but then was diagnosed with a highly virulent and severe strain of E. coli known as Shiga toxin-producing E. Coli (STEC) 0157:h7 and quickly developed Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). HUS is a serious disease that affects the blood clotting system and causes kidney failure. The nightmare for our family began and our Little B is fighting for his life. We know our God is bigger and is with little B and will not leave him. Our little guy is fighting hard for his life and we covet all the prayers we can get. 🙏❤️

Newest Update

Journal entry by Katy Little

Hello friends and family! We have decided to keep updates on Beckham through a public Facebook group page. We just got it up and going a little bit ago. We will also be able to share videos of Beckham on this site.
We have currently 10 tributes on Caring Bridge and we don't want any others thinking they are donating to our family when in reality it is going to Caring Bridge to run the website and pay employees.  Many reached out after donating and we had zero clue this was happening. They stated to contact them personally and they will resolve the problem. Will and I have plans to donate when things calm down to the website, as it has been wonderful in keeping many informed of Beckhams status and MOST importantly letting more share his story for prayers. We hope to have the same prayers coming daily through the new page on Facebook. Please keep them coming, as God has already done big things for Little B.
We have little time to catch up with texts, phone calls, and most importantly our kids and family back in TN. We don't want people to think we are receiving donations ( aka tributes on Caring Bridge) when in reality we aren't.  We appreciate ALL that has been done for our family and words can't describe how wonderful it is knowing our family has support from so many.
Please continue to follow Beckhams story and keep on praying! Though the road has smoothed out the past couple of days, it is indeed a long one ahead before heading home.
The new public group on Facebook is called Prayers for Beckham Little.
