Journal entry by Skye Hoekstra

Today we were notified that Paxon's scans were clear and that he is in remission. We are stunned, overjoyed, and speechless. We know we have a long road ahead of us and that it can take about a year for his body to fully recover but today is a great day!

Going forward he will need another surgery soon to remove his port, will be checked monthly for tumor markers in his blood, and he will need to have sedated scans every three months likely until he hits 5 years cancer-free.

Getting to today has taken a village. It takes support from family and community. It takes help from talented medical care teams, including doctors, nurses, music therapists, and even trained puppies. But it also takes all of you- the gracious donations, the friends and family who flew and drove across the country to care for Pax. The people who taught us that joy and grief are okay to feel at the same time. The playdates you took our other kiddos on when we just couldn't get out of the house and the enormous amount of prayers and love you've continued to send our way.  We love you all.

With love and gratitude,

Nick and Skye
