We have been in Bethesda, Maryland since Monday at the National Institutes of Health. Mom had blood work, an MRI, and a spinal tap, which will help to determine her best course of treatment for her. Dr. Cortese is the primary neurologist on this study which specifically studies PML. She hopes to have a better understanding of mom’s particular case, including what has affected her overall immunity suppression, which allowed the JC virus to cause the PML. We have an appointment tomorrow morning to learn more about her results and any next steps. This visit has been a lot for mom with all the testing she has done many times before. But she continues to be superwoman every step of the way. Mom was so excited to even be able to spend time with her nephew Eddie who lives in DC.
