John’s Story

Site created on January 15, 2022

John's illness began with a positive Covid test on Christmas Eve, treating him at home through doctor's orders. He was up and down and seemed to be improving, but after about 8 days, he took a turn for the worse. He could barely breathe as we went to the ER on New Year's Eve when he was admitted to Baptist East. His progression moved toward a decision to admit him to ICU on Saturday 1/8. Please, pray for peace, for strength, for rest, and for God’s will ultimately--even when it is the hardest road we’ve ever walked.

John & I watched the NCAA National Basketball 🏀 Championship tonight. Nothing like March Madness! We were rooting for North Carolina to beat Kansas because after 14 years I personally am still not over the fact that back in the Derek Rose/John Calipari era our Memphis Tigers should have beaten Kansas in the 2008 national championship.

It’s frustrating in the sense that if we had hit our free throws we should’ve won. The recap is at 2 1/2 minutes we were leading by 12 points and then found a way to lose it at the very end. We were at a watch party with many friends from our church Saint Patrick’s Presbyterian. And when it was over none of us could even speak or look at each other as we were so devastated.

Tonight we were just very disappointed for North Carolina as they led by 16 points at halftime and then ended up losing it when they could’ve at least gone into overtime at the end if they had just not missed that last three-point shot.

But enough about basketball. We love it and will always dream of our Tigers being the Cinderella team one day…

Basically nights are still rough with John’s coughing and therefore quietly watching TV and drinking hot liquids help him with this healing process. His doctors appointment went well today and he will be trying a new medicine.

Thank you so much for your prayers. He is such a strong man and I know God is going to get him through this. John is a Winner 🏆 Phil 4:13 “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.”

 Love in Him,

Sara
