Devon’s Story

Site created on October 9, 2022

It seems everyone who's ever known Devon has their own special relationship with him. His light shines bright and he wears his kind heart on his sleeve.  He was in a terrible car accident with 4 of his friends the night of October 7. As a result, he is recovering from a traumatic brain injury.  We have no doubt that God's hands are upon him and we ask for continued prayers for Devon, the doctors and nurses caring for him and our family as we navigate this challenge. We are using this page to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you.

Happy New Year!

Devon continues to progress in his recovery. Each new day, he seems to become more and more like "old Devon" as he says. He has 4-6 rehab therapy appointments a week and on the days he doesn't,  we keep him working on his therapy at home (whether he likes it or not 😅💪) He says he wants to inspire people. I told him, he's already doing that but he wants to do it bigger. We have no doubt, he will.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to visit! He's doing much better regarding overstimulation. He even went to Liams basketball game last night 👏

I don't know how often I'll update this page moving forward now that things have "calmed down" in a sense (not so much in others). We have a lot on our plates and I really want him to be able to tell this part of his story when he's ready.

I forgot in my last update to thank everyone who came out to his impromptu birthday celebration. It was absolutely incredible to see so many, on a freezing night, come to support him and he loved it!

Everyone who has been praying us all the way through this and continue to do so, thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are so grateful for a God who never fails to see us through. So incredibly grateful we got to keep our son (big brother,  grandson, nephew, cousin, friend) and that he continues to improve!! We have seen unthinkable heartache and triumph over the past 3 months. We continue to be filled with hope for Devons future! 🙏💚💪
