Journal entry by Ann Swihart

Happy New Year to everyone! Looking back on 2022, there are so many things that I am thankful for. Number 1 is that I have had a whole year where I have been cancer free. In November, my MD reminded me how blessed I was. He said it was a miracle that I was able to qualify for the treatment and respond so well. I try to remember this every morning when I wake up and thank God for another day.

This past year I have been blessed with 2 more grandchildren, having 6 total and all of them are healthy! I try to spend time each week with them creating memories and enjoying life as little kids do all the time (and helping their parents out a bit as well). They just love the little things, ie: playing with playdoh, taking a walk and playing at the park, swimming, playing  games, and of course they love to give hugs!  I also felt good enough to travel to Germany this summer and spend time touring with Jared and family.   He was able to come home this fall for a nice visit as well.  Karl and I were able to go to Arizona for a vacation and also went camping  several times.

I feel God has given me a second chance on life so I have started volunteering more. I am still helping with the RockSteady boxing program for Parkinson's but have recently started giving communion to the homebound.  I am getting to know some new people and helping them draw closer to God.  I feel anytime I have volunteered for something, I get more out of it than I give. I am still trying to see what other ways God wants me to share my faith.

I am so thankful for everyone's prayers over these past years.  My faith has continued to grow. I completed the "Bible in a Year" for the 2nd time and still feel I have a lot to learn. Two of my favorite verses continue to be: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13 and "Have no anxiety at all, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests know to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6-7.

I wish everyone a blessed and healthy 2023!
