Pete’s Story

Site created on April 26, 2022

On Wednesday,  March 23rd,  Pete was enjoying a day of skiing at Breckenridge with his son, Jonathan, and friend, Matt.  At the time he was by himself, and was found down on the slopes. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Frisco, where he presented with stroke symptoms. They were able to give him TPA (a clot busting drug) and then he was airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver. He went immediately into interventional lab, where they discovered he has a dissection of the left carotid artery, which then made a clot that went to his brain. They spent five hours trying to put in stents, open up vessels and break up the blood clot. Unfortunately, several areas of the brain went without blood flow for an extended period of time, and the stents were not successful. Now we are in the difficult process of waiting and seeing what happens. They say this will be a long journey and are hesitant to give any long term out looks. Follow along for updates on Pete’s progress!

We had a real nice Father’s Day ❤️. Thankful.  So nice to have Pete home, and all be together.  God continues to sustain us on this long journey.  Pete is doing well, walking w a cane and one person assist, just in case he stumbles.   He is surprising us with phrases at times, still has to work on speech.  Started outpatient therapy yesterday.
Prayer requests:  for continued healing for Pete, that movement will move from the large muscle group-hip down his leg for more movement, that he will be able to move his right arm.   And speech to improve.  For strength for me as I care for him, work, and maintain the house.  I’m tired!  I desire just to sit and relax and spend time w God and His word, but I just seem to be running from sun up to sun down, not enough hours in the day.  We are continueing to praise God even in the pain of all we have lost.  I try to list things I’m thankful for to encourage my hurting heart.  Thank you for your love and prayers, please call and stop in for a visit, that would encourage us both❤️
“You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”  Isaiah 26:3. Remains my go to verse when my heart sinks.  ❤️
