Journal entry by Phyllis Sarkis —
Friday I got wonderful news after I saw a melanoma cancer specialist in San Francisco about my eye. He examined my eye and ran LOTS of tests, and found that I'm in remission and, for now, cancer-free! I praise God for such wonderful news.
He wants me to continue my special diet, my IV treatments, and most but not all of the rest of the support medicine I’ve been on; because, having the auto immune diseases MS & lupus, increases my risk for cancer, and I’ve had it once now already.
In addition he, and the doctor that referred me to him, want me to see a rheumatologist to begin medical treatment for my lupus and MS. From today’s test, he was able to see nerve damage "neurosis" in the brain behind the eye. I already have an appointment with a new rheumatologist coming up in early April.
He says I need medications to treat both my MS & lupus because he feels it is the MS that is causing my eye and face symptoms: pressure, flashes of light, loss of eye sight in upper right corner, numbness, & tingling down on my face. Just FYI, it is my lupus that attacks my organs and my MS that attacks my nervous system and muscles.
Right now I still have really bad sharp pains all the time and muscle weakness. I'm still recovering from laparoscopic surgery and have pains when i do too much and get tired easily.
