Nolan’s Story

Site created on June 24, 2023

So many of you have been on our fertility journey with us for so many years. As you know, we were overjoyed to learn our embryo transfer was successful in January, and we were pregnant with a precious little boy. A little miracle from God. We have recently learned that our little miracle has a few more miracles to accomplish with God. Our son, Nolan was diagnosed with a very rare and severe heart defect in June called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. What we know right now is that his treatment will require three major open heart surgeries before Nolan is 3 years old. The first taking place in the first week of his life. This diagnosis is very serious and we need your prayers. We are still learning about his diagnosis. What it means for Nolan and for our family. We know we cannot be on an island in this. We need prayer and support. We need people to remind us of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

We are still praying and planning with expectant hope that God is writing Nolan’s story. It is not finished.
So Much Love, Bonnie

Journal entry by Bonnie and Chris Petrosky

Nolan endured another surgery like a trooper. It was much longer than anticipated which caused a great deal of stress to Bonnie and I. Everything went really well and Nolan has started to wake up and has been cleared to have clear liquids. He was a little pissed it wasn’t milk, but gave in and downed the whole bottle. We are so proud of the incredible strength that this little man shows. He will be in for a bit of a rough night but is doing pretty good. When we got to rejoin him post surgery in the CICU we were thrilled to see some of our favorite people on the floor and his open heart procedure surgeon and team stopped by to check in. We love seeing them but also are excited to leave. Looks like it will be a couple of days of monitoring and stepping up his intake slowly. Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. They mean the world to Bonnie, Nolan and I.
