Journal

It's difficult to believe that May is around the corner!  We are now just a little over three months out from my hip surgery although it seems like a lifetime ago.  Last week I had my first of many bi-yearly CT scans to monitor potential cancer spread and there appears to be no cancer in sight.  I am walking with only the assistance of a cane and will be back to work a week from today.  And most importantly, I have no pain whatsoever in my right leg and hip.  So much has changed!

In the latter months of 2022 and early January of this year, I struggled to walk and felt constant pain in my right hip.  When we finally received the diagnosis that the tumor was indeed cancerous in mid-to-late December, my surgeon, Dr. Leddy, scheduled a removal surgery for January 20th.  During the more than eight-hour surgery, Dr. Leddy and his colleagues removed a "nerf football-sized" tumor (as described by the doctor) and implanted an 18 inch metal rod and artificial hip in it's place - message me if you want to see pics!

Suffice it to say that the fall and winter of 2022 and the first few months of 2023 were some of the most difficult and challenging days of my life.  Throughout this time, you - my family, friends and work colleagues- - have shown me what is most important in life - Love.   I have received so much kindness, support and love from so many, helping sustain me through the most difficult days and darkest moments.   I am truly humbled.
