Peggy’s Story

Site created on July 5, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

My mom, Peggy Holmes, had been fighting an autoimmune
condition called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis for about 25 years now.  The condition causes hardening of the ducts of the liver and eventually leads to cirrhosis and liver failure.
Unfortunately she is at the point where the liver is failing and she needs a liver transplant soon.

Due to the short supply of livers and extremely high demand for them, the best option for her is a live donation.
In a healthy person, up to 75% of the liver can be donated and will grow back within 2-3 months.  The liver is actually the only organ in the body that will regrow, and that is pretty cool.

If you would be willing to explore being a total hero and saving my mom’s life, there is a simple form to fill out to start the process of possibly becoming a donor.

The form is at https://www.ucsfhealth.org/clinics/liver-transplant-program

It would mean the world to this very special mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, sister and friend.

Thank you,
Heather and family
