Paxton’s Story

Site created on January 11, 2022

During pregnancy, Paxton was diagnosed with a severe diaphragmatic hernia (a hole in his diaphragm), as well as a heart defect. We began our OB appointments in Sioux Falls, and as the severity of his case grew, we were referred to Children’s Hospital Colorado in Denver. We made plans to relocate to Denver for Paxton’s delivery and an impending NICU stay. We arrived in Denver at the end of November for frequent monitoring of his situation. On January 10th, we delivered a beautiful baby boy.

Journal entry by Hanna Slagle

This morning we finally got to hold our sweet Paxton as he went to be in the arms of Jesus. His little body just had too many things stack against him. Lance and I are experiencing an unbearable amount of pain, but we are thankful Paxton is at peace and comfortable and is watching over us from heaven.

We are so proud of you, sweet boy. The most perfect first born. My heart will never stop loving you and aching to see you again.
