Journal entry by Paul Roper —
Latest scans show things are growing again - Dr. describes it as “waking up” after the trial treatment. All of these treatments seem like a fighter in a boxing match, where a punch is delivered that at best slows the other side for a couple rounds. We decided to take six weeks to see if fluid and side effects resolve before going into more chemo or other treatment. Still gaining fluid in lungs and elsewhere — it’s very frustrating to have all this time off of active treatment and to still feel so below average. Dr. said they heard from the study that others that went as far in the trial as I did are experiencing a long recovery as well - so it’s hard to know yet how long exactly side effects will last.
Psalm 33: 20-22
“Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield
For our heart is glad in him,
Because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love O Lord, be upon us,
Even as we hope in you”
