Paul’s Story

Site created on January 7, 2024

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.

Earlier this fall, dad had his cancer check up, we found out that is PSA (cancer levels) had increased significantly. After much discussion it was decided that he would go through chemo.  The first few rounds of chemo went great, and his numbers went down significantly.  Then it stopped working, and his numbers increased higher than we even imagined was possible.   Due to this the doctor decided to stop chemo and start him on a new treatment called Plavicto.
This type of treatment was just approved by the FDA in 2022 and has been at Rodger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo since June 2023 and dad is in the first 25 people to use this treatment at Rodger Maris.
The Plavicto treatment is done every 6 weeks and levels are tested every 4 weeks.  Dad has had two treatment since starting.  Before the second treatment dad’s PSA level has gone down 7 points, but was good because we were told to expect the numbers to go up.
Dad is in good spirits with all of this.  It took us sometime to actually accept that this is happening.

Dave and I will be doing our best to keep everyone updated on dad treatment.

We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
