Pauline’s Story

Site created on February 18, 2019

My journey with breast cancer began on Thursday night, January 24, 2019. I was lying on my back doing some back stretches when I felt as though God directed my hand to be placed over my chest. I felt a lump and knew immediately what it was. I have always done monthly checks and this was not there in December. I began praying for guidance for the best possible physicians and treatments. I found Dr. William Barber.
I called Dr. William Barber's office with Atlanta Breast Care on Monday (Jan. 28th). On January 29th, I was a new patient to Dr. Barber's office. Within two hours, I had an ultrasound and biopsy performed. At this time, I was told that I had a malignant stage 2 breast cancer. So, this is where my journey began.

Journal entry by Pauline Parker

Ok, we’ll, the pain medications that they gave me during and immediately after the surgery wore off around 2am...& I have to say OUUUUCHIIIIIEEEE!! That’s my Christian term for it lol. Needless to say, I didn’t sleep much, only when I didn’t move. Toradol had absolutely no effect. I told the surgeon that I didn’t want any narcotics. Unfortunately, I may need them for a day or two because it’s painful to walk and breathe. And, I can’t really perform splinting with the area it’s in. So, I’m asking for prayers to reduce the pain to a manageable level. 🙏🏼
