Paul’s Story

Site created on December 28, 2022

With love and prayers for compassionate, steadfast, gentle, and incredibly affirming Dad, grandpa, husband and friend —Pastor Paul D. Hanson. His health took a bit of a nosedive on Christmas Eve and has gotten progressively worse since then. He’s currently at the hospital fighting severe sepsis, pneumonia, and excruciating pain in his left leg/hip/knee, same side as his motorcycle accident from college and subsequent/multiple hip and knee replacements. Once the pneumonia and sepsis are improved, recovery could be long and include surgery to remove each piece of his devices from knee and hip surgery to wash, dry and rebuild them. We will keep loved ones updated here. Thank you for your prayers! If you would like to help with meals, meal sign-up is here: https://takethemameal.com/JRNZ1539

Newest Update

Journal entry by Dave Hanson

Family Update: Dad is doing really well, all things considered. He’s home and stable and has graduated to outpatient therapies 3 x per week (OT, PT, and Speech). He’s working to regain cognitive abilities around short term memory, processing humor, measurement of risks and consequences, etc…but we continue to be blessed by  his sweet, kind, caring, and determined personality.

Mom’s health, on the other hand, has declined now that she’s finally out of “crisis mode” advocating for Dad. She struggles with crippling pain in all her joints that affects both her mobility and ability to participate in social interactions. For the time being, she’s managing Dad’s therapies, meds, and driving him to/from appointments. But otherwise she’s pretty much bed-bound herself.

We’d be grateful for continued prayers for the Hanson clan. ❤️🫶🏼🙏
