Journal entry by Ralph Sapia —
I am sorry for the delay in the update, but there has not been much to report until yesterday when Paul was transferred to rehab at Kernan. I went and visited him yesterday and I would like to say to you that he looks great, but he doesn't. He has lost a lot of weight because is unable to eat so he has a PEG feeding him through his stomach. He has a cervical collar that holds his head up. His brain injury has severely impacted his speech and he is only able to make sounds. I suppose the good news is that he is still whip-smart.
He has PT three times a day and tires very easily and Kernan has very strict visitation policies. which only allows a fixed number per day and he is only allowed to have visitors on odd days. At the moment I think the best thing you can do to support Paul is to send cards, letters, and photographs - which the case manager tells me are very helpful. His address is:
Paul Bolenbaugh- TBI UNIT
2200 Kernan Drive, Baltimore 21207.
As things develop I will keep you posted.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Paul's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
