From Gene:
Yes its been quite some time since I have updated Caring Bridge or Facebook on Paula’s recovery.

Since Paula’s return home from the hospital some 144 days ago, we have seen a lot of positive forward progress.

When Paula came home she was essentially 100% dependent on assistance to do almost everything.  As of this writing, Paula moves freely about the house using the Rollator, dresses herself, cares for own hygiene, can do some light household chores and is super efficient at ordering from Amazon!

The above progress has not come without a ton of work. Paula has had in home PT/OT two to three times a week for months. She progressed so well that they have referred her to PT/OT away from the house (out patient).

Recently Paula has received great news from caregivers.

Her Cardiologist has informed us her heart functions are in normal range and pacemaker is working perfectly, see you in year!

pulmonologist says lungs are normal ! (she does need BiPap but that another story)

Internal Medicine has taken her off her diabetic meds! Paula’s morning Glucose readings have been in normal range for months now and her A1C indicates non-diabetic !!!

Just this last Wednesday, Paula and I visited the 911 Dispatch center to meet and thank in person the dispatcher that answered my 911 call and got my head straight so I could help Paula. We met the Dispatcher, several supervisors and the Director of Dispatch. They were so very welcoming and appreciative of us taking the time to both write a letter and come thank them in person. It was an awesome experience.

Paula and I spent several days last week meal prepping for her Fathers visit. I cooked with Paula supervising operations. We made Sloppy joe, chicken pot pie, Spaghetti sauce, Turkey noddle soup and others. Paula enjoyed getting back in the kitchen.

Paula enjoyed Thanksgiving and getting to see all her grandchildren, Gene/Ashley and Nicki/Doug.  There was much reflection as to what that could have been had “things” gone different. Truly a Thanksgiving day.

Thank you for your interest in Paula’s story and recovery. Thank you for the phone calls, texts, visits and prayers. If you are in doubt that prayer works just read the above. We would not be where we are today without prayer.

God is good

Thank you and Merry Christmas

Gene & Paula
