Journal entry by Paula Weber —
Finally I have an update for you.
Dr B said I’m doing well, but I have a new diagnosis: hypogammaglobilinemia. A type of anemia created by the stem cell transplant and now taking the medicine, Revlimid, an immunosuppressant. I’m guessing this is temporary, probably as long as I take the medicine. It makes me more susceptible to infection and explains why I have been feeling so tired. I will be seeing Dr B monthly now for monitoring. If I cannot tolerate this medicine, there are other options.
My “bad” counts have dropped considerably, showing the transplant is working! In November I will talk with Mayo doc and see if I can just try going off this medicine,
I cannot get the MMR vaccine b/c it is a live vaccine. So I will be wearing a mask in public for a long time and be careful around kids- especially any anti-vax families.
