Newest Update

Journal entry by Allan Gaskamp

I have been thinking of my Love this week while everyone was celebrating Christmas and it is hard to "get in the mood" when the one who enjoyed this season so much is gone from here. However, she is able to celebrate Christmas everyday. There is peace where she is. It has been a year today from the day that  Jesus welcomed her into His presence. It has not been any easier as the year has passed, but no one said it would be. It is just different.

It is hard to move forward when you are looking backward so this will be my last post on this journal. Patty would be upset if I remain frozen in memories and forfeit making new ones. I miss her terribly but I can't remain melancholy and not see what adventures God has for me while my time is still here in this place. I am blessed to have had the pleasure of being her passion and of her, my passion, for the 35 years of friendship and 33 years of marriage.

A quick update on my personal life after a year without my Love. I am still the owner of a small trophy, award and gift company, Trophies and More in Bedford Texas. I have also returned to my hobby of being an on-air personality on TheChristianMix.com on Saturdays 2pm to 5pm CST. If you are interested in connecting with me there, you can go to my radio facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/al.kamp.2023/

Thank you for going on this journey with me and rest assured your prayers and kind words have been a balm on my broken heart. You have touched me and I covet your prayers and friendship going forward.

I want to close this journal with a song that spoke to me earlier this year.  Kenny Rogers recorded this song in 1982. Lionel Richey wrote it while he was still a member of The Commodores.  This song truly encapsulates my feelings at this time. Please enjoy the lyrics below as well as the video that I have attached.

Goodbye

[Verse 1]
I wanted you for life, you and me in the wind
I never thought there'd come a time that our story would end
It's hard to understand, but I guess I'll have to try
It's not easy to say goodbye

[Verse 2]
For all the joy we share, all that time we had to spend
Now if I had one wish, I'd want forever back again
To look into your eyes and hold you when you cry
It's not easy to say goodbye

[Chorus]
I remember all those great time we had
So many memories, some good, some bad
Yes, and through it all, those memories will last forever

[Verse 3]
There's peace in where you are, maybe all I need to know
And if I listen to my heart, I'll hear your laughter once more
And so I have to say I'm just glad you came my way
It's not easy to say goodbye

[Outro]
Goodbye
