Patty’s Story

Site created on December 13, 2020

As if 2020 wasn’t crappy enough, on December 8th I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.  While the cancer diagnosis was a surprise, especially as there’s no family history of ovarian cancer, the fact that something was wrong was not. Since mid summer I had been under the weather with seemingly unrelated ‘complaints.’  On Halloween I began to experience significant breathing issues. Of course Covid was suspected, but it was ruled out twice in 10 days. After seeing a cardiologist and having heart issues ruled out, the next step was to see a pulmonologist. Before that appointment happened, the breathing issues accelerated and I ended up in the ER on December 7.  After taking my medical history, the medical team suspected ovarian cancer, which was confirmed the following day.

Greetings, friends!

My last post, a year ago, said no news was good news. This post starts the same way! I’m happy to report that my condition remains stable. Though not cancer-free, it isn’t growing, spreading, or causing me any issues. I’m tired, and yes that could be from the drug I take, or it could be that I’m not a spring chicken.😂

Three years ago, I was afraid that Christmas 2020 would be my last. But unlike some of the women diagnosed with ovarian cancer around the same time I was, I am blessed to again celebrate my favorite holiday season. It has been a joy decorating our home, and making a list of the cookies I hope to make between now and the 24th.

Sadly, 2023 saw the passing of two of my eight siblings. This is something I never wanted to experience. Please join me in offering a prayer of comfort for all who love Jerry and Kate. May we all meet up with them again, but not for a LONG time.

Happy Holidays to all! Please know that I am eternally grateful for the many prayers, healing vibes and positive energy sent my way. If ever needed, I’m here to do the same for you.

Hugs,
~~Patty
