Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In late January mom went to see her oncologist in Fort Myers for her monthly shot. While visiting with her doctor, she shared with him that her legs felt wobbly and her balance was off. He said they would watch things and if it progressed they would do a scan of her brain as that is the only area that was not scanned during this whole cancer process. She was delighted in his response and left his office.
Fast forward a few days or weeks and mom was experiencing some falls, more weakness, memory concerns and slurred speech. She made phone calls to a variety of doctors and it was determined that she go to the emergency room for a CT scan.
The next few days she spent in the hospital at Lee County Gulf coast hospital undergoing every possible scan, test, and blood work imaginable.
On February 16, 2022, we received the diagnosis of Leptomeningeal Carcinomatosis (Metastasis). In non-medical terminology…her cerebellum has like a sugar coating (cancer cells).
We arrived at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa on Friday February 18 where we went through a TON of appointments and she was admitted into the hospital for 10 rounds of whole brain radiation. We can not THANK the doctors, nurses, and staff at Moffitt enough for the tremendous care she received. They were truly remarkable. Mom was discharged from the hospital on Thursdsy March 3 and was able to return to the condo in Fort Myers for a few days. This brings us to today!
