Journal entry by Lisa Thacker —
Hi Family and Friends,
It’s been a minute since we posted and we wanted to share a few updates with everyone. Patterson is doing great! Yesterday, he had follow up appointments with neurosurgery and his neurology. Both were pleased with his recovery and how well he is doing. Preliminary pathology results are back and the tumor is considered a low grade 1 benign tumor! The doctors have been very optimistic from the beginning but it was such a relief to have hear the results.
He still has 4 more weeks of no strenuous activities. He can lift a gallon of milk, go for short walks, and shoot a few hoops. After 6 weeks post-surgery, he can slowly work up to being more active and can swim, but no contact sports or activities that would risk hitting his head or falling.
Patterson’s next round of follow up appointments are on September 20th. He will have another MRI that day to ensure he’s fully healed and hopefully, he will be released from all activity restrictions. Once the final pathology results are back, they will determine what the best approach is for long-term follow up is. Currently, we know he will remain on his seizure medication for a year and there will be more EEGs and MRIs in his future.
Patterson continues to be a champ through this all. We are grateful for all the love we’ve received from thoughts and prayers to meals, cards, and care packages. It’s all meant so much to us.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Patterson's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
