Newest Update

Journal entry by Ryan Sandgren

8:30pm.

Hello all. I hope everyone is doing well. Pat continues to improve daily. So here goes with a snapshot of the last week.

My mom didn’t suffer any side effects after last weeks first chemo session. I checked in with her every morning and every evening to see if there was anything to report. Every time I asked I would get the same answer, “I feel good. Actually better then yesterday.” So let’s all hope this streak of good fortune continues.

Yesterday afternoon was her 2nd session.  But first we had to make a visit out to see Jessica at the West desk since it was her last day at Ridgepointe. I know my mom is really going to miss working with Jessica every day. And I know so many residents will too. Jessica, I want to thank you so much for being such a great friend to my for all these past years and for all the years to come.

But we had one more doctors visit before chemo. That went just fine and we finished up at that one earlier then expected so it was finally time for Chemo. Everything went great again. The room for the procedure is on the 3rd floor and overlooks a beautiful pond. It is a very peaceful setting. I watched an eagle preening and cleaning himself for 20 minutes. It was so neat to see and I took it as a good sign with all of this stuff going on with my mom.

Anyway, mommy needed a nap after all the action from the day. While she did that, I took all of the get well cards she has received from all of you fine folks and taped them to 3 huge pieces of cardboard to hang up on the wall. I am going to call it her “Wall of Well Wishes”. I will post a picture if I can remember how to do that on here. If it’s not on here, I obviously  couldn’t remember haha.

We finished planting the rest of her flowers today. And as an added bonus, the Twins are on Fox right now so we’re watching them. She feels nothing as far as side effects from yesterday, so fingers crossed everyone.

Sorry, this post is kind of long. I will end with this. If people check in on here and don’t see a post from me for awhile it’s only because everything is going great for Pat. As the old saying goes,”No news is good news.” If anything bad came up I would let everyone know. So, I hope to talk to everyone later rather than sooner.
