Journal entry by Sarah Ford —
A lot to share from over the past few days
I’ve been back home since Friday 7/1/22 and it has been amazing to be around my family again.
It has made my limitations more of a reality. It’s hard to not be able to help around the house, help with Elena, and do some basic things to contribute to the home.
But the support from Sarah, my brother and friends while they visited, and my in laws has been amazing.
I had some amazing reunions over the past few days.
My brother Sebastian came from Portland and spent the weekend with us. It was amazing to see him spend multiple days with Elena doing all of the things I am unable to do. I’m so thankful for him.
I got a visit from my friends Conor and Joe. We haven’t been all three together for quite a few years now. It felt so amazing and I am blessed to be able to spend that time with them. They also got to interact with Elena which is icing on the cake.
Lastly, I got to go visit my family at Project Onyx. My friends got to workout with them and witness what my second family is like in person. I have to admit, seeing them all workout made me really jealous!
My physical condition is slowly improving along with my vision and dizziness. It seems I have some good days where I can do as much as I want and some tough days where I need to lay and rest most of the time.
In all, it’s been a great transition home and I’m looking forward to starting outpatient rehab with some of my coworkers this week.
