Parker’s Story

Site created on March 24, 2023

Parker Vogt is a lifelong member of his home congregation of St. John's Newtonburg. After attending school there, he went on to Manitowoc Lutheran High School and graduated this past May (2022). He's now enrolled at Lakeshore Technical College and is working toward completion in an HVAC program. He also loves to help others in his spare time and even helped coach basketball for our grade school this past Winter.

He started having some issues with pain and mobility starting a little over a month ago. On March 14th, we found out that Parker has a mass in his hip area that has been causing him a great deal of pain. This was recently diagnosed as a form of cancer known as Sarcoma. Sarcomas are rare cancers that develop in the bones and soft tissues, including fat, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, deep skin tissues and fibrous tissues. As of right now, we're unsure of the type of Sarcoma, but Parker has been assigned a treatment plan and will have further tests at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee this coming week.

Our family deeply appreciates the prayers, love, and concern everyone has shared as we've discovered all of this. A lot has happened in a very short time, and while it has been a little overwhelming, we have confidence in God's plan for us and Parker. We'll be sure to continue to update you all here as we continue on this journey together.

Journal entry by Angela Vogt

I wasn't sure how to handle this, so thought I would just start with a post here. I am going to be CANCELLING THE MEAL TRAIN from here on out. It has absolutely been a life saver over the last couple of months. To all of you who have made us a meal, I can't thank you enough! To those who were still signed up to bring one, thank you also! I am sure they would have been delicious. :) I appreciate all of your kindness in helping in this way. Many of you said it is a small way for people to help, but for me, it was huge! Thank you all!
