Journal entry by Pamela Starkey —
Post from Chelsea:
Well it’s definitely been an eventful couple of days trying to learn how to properly care for momma. The home health nurse came on Saturday and gave us a little bit of instruction but we are so used to being with her every step of the way to hear all the instructions (when she has been at the hospital in the past). We have definitely read and re-read her discharge paperwork to figure out the proper care, so it’s been a learning curve. The nurse counted mom’s staples...there are 71 and that’s just the stomach section. She also has a lot of stitches where they placed the flap. Each day she is progressing and feeling a little bit better. We are trying to get her up and walking to get her strength back up. She really is such a trooper!
