I made it through all my chemo without further delays. I am now lying on a beach in Puerto Vallarta where I have spent the last 5 days in blissful relaxation. We planned this trip for after chemo knowing it would be great to have an escape. It is hard to believe the entire chemo “trip” took 5 months. At the beginning that seemed like an impossibly long time but now it is done and the next step is coming up soon. November 27 is my next surgery. Double mastectomy with expanders placed. I am nervous for that of course but I have chosen this route as screening tests missed seeing the tumors/lymph nodes through dense breast tissue. If all goes well with healing I will begin radiation 8 weeks after surgery. 3 months after that for implant surgery. I had no idea how long this treatment would drag on when it started. I couldn’t have done it without the support of family and friends. ( and lots of counseling) Thank you! Please pray anxiety will stay away as surgery approaches and after.
