Journal entry by Tonya Hansen —
We last updated that our mom had her cancer surgery on January 15. Her surgery went well. However, a few days following surgery, she began not feeling well. She had some digestion complications following surgery that prolonged her hospital stay. Needless to say, after spending 8 days in the hospital she was glad to be home! Her recovery has been slow and a struggle. Our mom has been very weak, has bouts of nauseous, and has not had much of an appetite at all. Unfortunately, she had to go to the Emergency Room last night. She has an infection in her colon and was severely dehydrated. She's on antibiotics now, so hopefully she will be feeling better in the coming days. And, she just needs to drink, drink, drink lots of fluids!
Our mom has a follow-up with her Oncologist next week. That appointment will give us a better idea if she will be resuming chemotherapy next week on Friday, March 1.
She is over the two biggest hurdles with her 1st round of chemo and her surgery. She still has a long road ahead of her. No doubt with her faith and prayers, she will get through this difficult time.
We appreciate all of your well wishes, texts and calls. Even though we may not be able to respond to each one, they definitely help with keeping spirits up!
