Newest Update

Journal entry by Tom Primmer

4 months ago today Mom was discharged from the hospital. She has been recovering at her home in Vinton, mostly. She and Dad were able to spend 10 days in Florida and benefit from some sun therapy. (Side note: their place in Florida was basically destroyed by Hurricane Ian. My sister’s husband, Kevin is a carpenter and was rebuilding the home in Florida when a tornado hit his house back here in Iowa. Everyone is ok, but now there’s more rebuilding to do.)

Meanwhile, Mom has frequent blood work to check all sorts of levels and to make sure her body isn’t rejecting the transplanted liver. A small blood clot did form in one of her bile ducts, which is being treated with medication.

The good news is Mom’s body seems to have accepted the liver well. Since December 26 the amount of medications have decreased and now the blood work numbers seem to be stabilizing.

I truly don’t know how people get through tough situations without family, friends and faith in God? Thank you for the prayers you have raised and continue to raise. Thank you for sending cards of encouragement to Mom, and continued concern.

I’ll post a summer update, but as you can see Mom has come a long way in the last year.

May the good Lord bless you and your families and return to you ten fold the blessing you’ve been to the Primmer family.
