Paisley’s Story

Site created on August 3, 2021

Our life changed on Sunday August 1, 2021. Paisley suffered a trauma to the head resulting in 3 skull fractures, internal bleeding and some brain damage on her left frontal lobe. We were visiting family in Western Kentucky meaning we were not close to any major hospitals. After being driven in an ambulance to the local medical center Paisley was staff flighted to Norton Children's Hospital in downtown Louisville, KY. (Shout out to the helicopter nurse Bobbie who cared for our sweet girl when we were unable to). Michael and I drove the 2 hour and forty minute drive while trying our best to keep it together. We were able to call family members to be at the hospital for her arrival. Upon getting to the hospital they were automatically concerned about the loss of blood. She was given blood and was rushed to emergency surgery to repair the fractures. She had a very serious injury and we were told by the surgeon that if it were 2mm deeper then she wouldn't have made it. She was still in surgery when we reached her. They attempted and was successful in doing two surgeries with one anesthesia. We weren't able to see her right away after surgery. All we could do was pray and thank God for her survival........
