Journal entry by Judi Bierman —
Paige's visit on Friday went well. Her main surgeon, Dr Dz, could not be there as his mother passed away this week. The rest of the visit went smoothly. Her trach is healing well. The graft in her jaw is doing well. The leaches did their job. The part of her thigh where they took the skin to cover her lower leg is healing and she needs to wait to remove the bandages. The lower leg is doing well but also still needs time. They made another checkup in 2 weeks. She should continue with home health to re-wrap all bandages every day. Her primary care doctor called on Friday because they got full reports and did not know any of the details. They were concerned that her hemoglobin was so low...8. She now adds some iron to her meds list. She was able to walk more in her house. She is starting to explore and enjoy some more soup or smoothie options.
Barry and I did drive back to Augusta on Saturday. We are getting ready for the week in Augusta. I feel the Saunders will do fine with all the support of family friends locally and the prayers and support of those at a distance. It is amazing what can happen when a group of loving people get together. I hope we do not ever need to do this again, but if we do I know the people who I want to do it with.
