Journal entry by Katy Preidt

We had his first ENT appointment since being out of the NICU this week. Dr. Chen (the Dr who removed his tumor) thinks he’s healing from his tumor resection really well! He will have to do an MRI within the next few months to make sure the tumor isn’t growing back but there’s nothing to lead her to believe that it is.

Owen has really been struggling with spitting up and throwing up lately. He is currently doing better than he was this weekend but still has at least a couple of very big spit ups each day. Sometimes it’s from mucus and other times we have no idea. Sometimes it just comes right back up after his bottle and sometimes he randomly projectile vomits. His doctors believe it’s time to schedule surgery for Owen to get a G tube and that that will help. He is completely uninterested in his bottle now so it make sense to give up on the NG. It is definitely a challenge for us to put him through another surgery but we want to do whatever we can to make him feel better. Since he has to be under general anesthesia for the MRI, we are hopeful to combine both things. This is a hard decision but hope it is the best one for him!

While we were at Riley we were able to see the doctor who delivered Owen! They had so much fun giggling at each other.

We were contacted about featuring Owen in a magazine for the Riley children’s foundation! I will post more details when I have them.
