In true Western Massachusetts fashion, I read in the local paper that there's a walk to raise money for cancer care at the hospital where Judah has had all of his treatment. Front page news!

Will you join us?
Or make a donation for Team Judah?

If you're wondering how our little guy is faring - he is as healthy as he can be, going to school most days, playing as much basketball as humanly possible with some ultimate frisbee thrown in for good measure. He still takes chemo pills every night.  There's significant underlying nausea, which is hard to control and really limits what he wants to eat most days. He has a headache all the time, and often, very sweetly will ask me for a cuddle on the couch and "can you rub my forehead?"

We still go to the clinic every month for labs and infusions, and every third month we have his "NPO" as Judah calls it. NPO is a doctor term - latin for "nothing by mouth/nil per os" - meaning you can't eat beforehand because you're having a procedure under general anesthesia. Somewhere along the way, we started calling the whole day NPO, which in our house means, one of those serious hospital days. Judah doesn't feel scared at all, which still blows me away; for him, the worst part is that he can't eat until around noon. He always wakes up from general groggy (of course!) and hungry for strawberries, which we now know to have ready for him. For Isaac and I, the worst part is the whole day - leaving the room when he goes under, chemo injected into his spinal column, hoping beyond hope that there is not a single leukemia cell in his spinal fluid, and then the longer term stuff that the doctor casually mentioned to me recently - possible learning regression, and then after that I stopped listening.

Our next NPO is May 7 and then hopefully only a few more -- December is the end of chemo 🤞 as long as everything continues on this path. Then 2 years from then, with God-willing so much health and strength and no leukemia in between, he will be on the other side. It's a long way to go still but our eyes rest on the horizon of Dec 2026 with a lot of hope.

Sending love for a sweet passover, and please come join us for the walk on May 19th or donate if you can
Sara
