Journal entry by Jen Kramer

As the sun rises in Chicago, I am heartbroken to share that our sweet Jill passed away last night at 2am. Jay and I said our goodnights to her and left the hospital late in the evening to get rest.

We discussed on the ride home that we both had a sense that she was going to pass in the night. That she likely wanted the time to be peaceful by herself. Her room was comfortable and calm and had a beautiful view.

Knowing Jill’s stresses in life - she loved and longed for the moments when she could be truly by herself. Whether it was reading on her roof in the sunshine or on the long walks she enjoyed with Pepper dog. We all know what a ridiculously early riser she was, so this all made perfect sense.

Thank you all so much for holding our hands and walking this journey with us this week.  The level of our gratitude can barely be put into words.

Jay would love a “Memorial Tour” to take place in the summer of 2021, so more to come. We will also plan to righteously celebrate her 50th birthday in Chicago this November as she so loved to celebrate others.

And even as you grieve today....try and walk with your head up, with a smile on your face and find the good things in your day. Talk to the doorman. Relish a great iced coffee. Make buying groceries an adventure. Enjoy a meal with a friend. Meet a stranger. All things our Jill would do, and would want for you.

May Jill’s life force live on in each of us and comfort us in these sad times. We are all forever changed.

Love you,
Kramer
