Ouida’s Story

Site created on January 28, 2022

Over the Christmas holidays, I noticed I was having trouble speaking, I would know what I wanted to say but couldn't say it.  It concerned me enough that eventually I ended up going to the emergency room, where they diagnosed me with a brain tumor.  Needless to say there has been a flurry of further testing and then a biopsy.  What we know right now is that it is not operable, it is a primary brain tumor (meaning it is not  metastasized from another type of cancer), and it is not Lymphoma.  That leaves some level of Glioma.  What is next is that we are meeting with an Oncologist and Radiologist here in Colorado, and also consulting with doctors at Ohio State University to understand treatment options.  I was hesitant to set this up, but my family and friends convinced me that people would want to know. We will keep everyone posted about what treatment we choose and if we will be in Ohio or Colorado.   Right now I feel great, and other than trouble talking and writing (I have a heck of a time answering texts, I can't type even the simplest words!) I am not having other symptoms.  I appreciate everyone's kind thoughts and prayers but please no pity!  I am a fighter and plan to fight hard for my health.
