Oneita’s Story

Site created on October 11, 2023

Hello family and friends. Thank you for stopping by. We have created this page in an effort to streamline communication for Oneita and keep you updated on her health journey. You can sign-up to receive updates here as they become available and they'll automatically be sent to you.

As many of you know, Oneita tragically lost her husband, Tewan, on their family vacation over the summer. Just a few months later, a single mama and widow, she was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 lymphoma cancer. We will share updates here, as well as ways you can pray specifically for this dear family.

GoFundMe: We have included a link to Oneita's 'GoFundMe' page if you feel led to give. All funds raised will be used to cover her mounting medical bills, and everyday expenses for her family (groceries, mortgage, electricity, etc). GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/1b0ac557

Meal Train Info: If you would like to help provide meals for Oneita and her two children during her treatment, feel free to email, myself, Jen Benich at JenBenich@gmail.com to access the Meal Train.

One quick note: Oneita has been very tired lately, so she might be slower to respond to calls or texts. She is very grateful for your prayers and support.

Journal entry by Sherri Hogstad

Hello friends and family,

We’re happy to share that Oneita successfully finished her first treatment today! She received a small dose and didn’t have any side effects. Next week she’ll have a stronger dose. The 3rd treatment will be a full dose and done in hospital, where she’ll be admitted and monitored for side effects for 24hr afterwards.  She’ll have full treatments from that time forward. She’ll have weekly treatments for 12 weeks, the move to monthly treatments for a total of 2 years.

The experience at UTSW was amazing! She had a private room, overlooking downtown Dallas. She had a TV in her room and the ability to order a meal during treatment if she chose. Every person on staff was very kind, thorough and professional. There’s no doubt she’s in great hands!
