Dennis P. Weston

July 22, 1946 – April 30, 2024

He served his country and survived, but death followed him homeThank you for your service.  Denny passed from Agent Orange caused cancer on April 30, 2024Born on July 22, 1946 in Bremerton, Washington to Paul Weston and Betty Watson, Denny moved to Soap Lake with his older brother, DaveAlthough he was awarded a music scholarship to attend college, he felt joining the Army would fix his teeth and improve his future with the GI BillAs a 26 year old with two children, he enrolled at Big Bend Community College, then Central Washington UniversityHe graduated in two years and became a CPA with Moss Adams in 1973He joined the Fluke family’s venture firm, Fluke Capital Management, in 1982 and received his MBA with honors from the University of Washington in 1987He eventually formed Fluke Venture Partners with Kevin Gabelein and never quite retired but was able to move full time to his favorite place in the Methow after owning a home there since 1998.  He invested in 43 companies and thank God, a couple worked out.

Denny had many hobbiesAs a musician, he sat in with the Kinks before his deployment from OahuThere would be no concert without a drummer, so he volunteeredHe played piano, trumpet and most recently, the flugelhornDon’t askHe loved flyfishing, upland bird game hunting, amateur radio, riding motorcycles, his woodshop, golfing, photography, and smoking cigarsHe travelled extensively after going with his brother-in-law to retrieve his niece in ChinaIt was there that he determined that not every foreign country had snipers at the ready.

Denny volunteered on boards with CWU School of Business, Special Olympics, Big Sisters of King County, Washington Business Week, Seattle King County Humane Society, Methow Fly Fishing Club, TwispWorks and probably others that I can’t recallHe loved helping people and I am amazed at how many people consider him their best friend.

Denny leaves so many grieving people behind; his wife of 31 years, Heidi Clifton, son, James (Dawn) Weston, daughter, AnnMarie (Tony) Wilson, grandsons Anthony and Joshua. Survived by big brother, Dave Weston and little brother, Rick McMahon, brother in law Claus Clifton (Anne Fisher)He was also very close to sister and brother in law, Lily and Mike Guse’ and beloved nephew and niece, Stuart, and Leah.  Thank you to my family and friends in the community for their incredible support during the last month of hell.

A final Dennyfest will be held on Saturday, September 28, at the Bear Creek Golf Course in Winthrop, Washington, beginning at 5 PM.  Denny wanted me to quote his favorite saying, which is “Work like you don’t need the money, Love like you’ve never been hurt, And dance like no one is watching…”
