Olivia’s Story

Site created on July 16, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Olivia. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  As you all know, our 2 year old daughter Olivia was diagnosed with ALL (Leukemia) on June 8th, 2020. Her experience in the hospital in the first 2 weeks was very traumatic both for Olivia and for Mommy and Daddy. She thankfully started her chemo treatments for Standard Risk Protocol on June 11th. She had a port inserted in her chest, and received a Lumbar Puncture and Bone Marrow Biopsy all in the same day. She is now still on Standard Risk Protocol after her 29 day Bone Marrow Aspiration coming back as 0%. Please continue to follow her journey and keep her and the family in your daily thoughts and prayers. Olivia is a vivacious little girl who loves her family deeply. We pray that she continues on this journey with as little pain and discomfort as possible. She is a warrior and her Mommy and Daddy could not be more proud of her! "With God all things are possible." Journal entry by Sheila Penn

Hello family and friends. It’s been a while since I’ve last posted on here. I guess it’s easy to get lost in the day by day chaos and chasing the minutes. Olivia will go in to outpatient clinic tomorrow for another round of chemo, steroids, and lumbar puncture procedure. This will be the start of Long Term maintenance cycle 5. Wow, 5 cycles .. I can’t believe it. After tomorrow’s procedure, she will have 2 more this year during maintenance phase. I feel like we are so close, yet still so far away from that finish line. I try not to let the experiences of the past or the unpredictable future haunt me. I try to live in the moment- taking it all in day by day and counting my blessings to have our precious baby with us. She is amazing. I ask that you keep her/us in prayer as always and that she will continue to be courageous and strong. She never ceases to amaze us with her resilience. 🙏♥️
This journey is surreal still and at times, I try to forget that she has cancer. But these are the things that bring me back down to earth/reality. Our fight is not over. We continue every day to push on - for her! One second, one minute, one day at a time.
